Exercise 1: InDesign 101
Assignment
InDesign 101 — Work Smarter Not Harder! Learn how to make a custom grid, create and apply master pages, set paragraph styles, and lay out content precisely and perfectly with the align tool.
Naming Convention and File Structure
You will upload all files to your individual Dropbox folder using the following naming convention and file structure:
Packaged folder will be named:
InDesign101_YourName
Final files will be named:
InDesign101_lastname.indd
InDesign101_lastname_1.pdf
InDesign101_lastname_2.pdf

etc
Your Dropbox folder will have this file structure for each project:
1. Process Files (PDFs, etc. of any process work/milestones/etc.)
2. Working Files (any and all versions of your indd files etc go here)
3. Final Files (final, packaged folder goes here)
4. Files to Client or Vendor (final PDF(s) go here)
Learning Outcomes
During this project successful students will:
• Create and edit multi-page layouts and typography using Adobe InDesign (Discipline Knowledge and RCSA)
• Produce designs consistent with project specifications and deadlines (Discipline Knowledge)
• Demonstrate the ability to name, organize, and submit digital work into a cloud based file system (Discipline Knowledge)

Margins
• 1.5" for the top and side margins
