EXERCISE 1: CUSTOM MOCK UP
Creative Brief
Create your own mockup for use later in the semester for the Movie Montage Project.
• Photograph a context shot for a movie poster (Go to a local movie theater and take many images for your mockup. You should frame your photo in both dramatic (hero shot with poster in perspective) and descriptive (straight shot that minimizes perspective distortions). Shoot in both landscape and portrait format
• You may use a department DSLR or your phone, but remember that you will be presenting your final solutions at fairly large scale... so build your files accordingly (resolution, dpi, size, etc.)
• Mask out the existing poster in your photos
• Place your file embedded (the album launch poster or your type poster will be fine for this exercise)
• Perspective warp, color correct, etc. until it looks real
Learning Objectives
• Continue to develop technical acumen with the core design software (Photoshop)
• Develop the ability to show work in its intended context using custom digital mockups
