Assignment
You will create a band and design an album launch campaign.
To Do
Research album covers, gig posters, band social media, and band merch to give yourself a reference as to what info is necessary for each & how that information is segmented to work in its environment (see the “other info” section).
Create a band from your randomly drawn genre and backstory. It is important to understand the target audience for your band as well as the appropriate visual language for that audience. Develop a profile of the target audience (archetypes not stereotypes... be authentic). Use that profile as a tool to communicate to your instructor and your peers the expectations of your audience.
Begin developing potential conceptual approaches consistent with your band and its audience. Check with your instructor before moving forward.
Use the design process to take your concept to a fully developed design solution
Other Info
Your solution should include all necessary copy for a professionally printed album (Band Name, Album Title, Song List, Lyrics, Band Members and Instrumentation, Bar Codes, Liner notes, etc...). Images used for this project must be digital photos that you can prove you have permission to use, and you may also incorporate vectors. You may include promo photos of the band members as long as you have permission/rights to use the images. It may or may not be the primary element in your design. If you have questions about the use of imagery, ask your instructor. NEVER USE ANYONE ELSE’S WORK in your solution.
